Auction 2601, lot 1989:Silver Dollar 1886 NGC 64 * Battle Creek Collection This coin is from the Battle Creek Collection which was an unparalleled group of over 1, 400 toned Morgan dollars. Included in this group were coins that represented the very finest rainbow toned pieces to come out of original mint bags which had not seen the light of day for over a century. All were certified by NGC.
1903 Proof NGC 65 BN Gem brown mint brilliance. Deep mirror-like fields with attractive iridescent rainbow tones. Sharply contrasting heavily frosted devices. NGC has certified five coins at this level with a mere two finer.
1954 Proof PCGS 66 Superb Gem mint brilliance. Deep mirror-like fields. Subtle pastel rainbow toning. There were 233, 300 Proof coins minted for this date.
1812 NGC 65 Gem mint luster. Well struck. Pleasing surfaces with blue, yellow and red rainbow tones at the obverse rim. Mostly warm russet-golden toned overall. NGC has certified 16 coins at this level with just 17 finer.
1879S Morgan PCGS 65 Gem Uncirculated, with excellent strike and luster. Designed by George T. Morgan, this design lasted from 1878 to 1921. Out of a total mintage of 9, 110, 000, this San Francisco issue is generally scarce near Gem or better. This encapsulation features a green CAC hologram label, indicating the coin has met CAC's grading standards.
